About the GSE Team to Germany

2012 Group Study Exchange Team

We are very excited about the 2012 Group Study Exchange Team that will be traveling to District 1890 (Hamburg and Northern Germany) in May and June of 2012. The team will consist of a Rotarian team leader, four team members, and an alternate in case one of the team is unable to make the trip. They are as follows:




Lawrence K. Furbish, Team Leader from the Rotary Club of Sanford-Springvale. Lawrence is a Sanford native who lived and worked in Connecticut for over 30 years as a nonpartisan researcher for the Connecticut General Assembly. He retired in 2003 and moved back to Maine. He joined Rotary in 2006 and is currently president of his club. 

Arthur T. Adams, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Fryeburg. Arthur received a degree in Accounting and Finance from the University of Southern Maine and works as a tax preparer in a Fryeburg firm. He is also the campground manager for the Fryeburg Fair and a part time waiter at the Red Jacket Inn in North Conway. He has traveled in Canada, Mexico, and the Philippines.

Myles F. Johnston, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Newburyport. Myles is a Newburyport native who received a degree in Business Administration from the University of Miami and is currently working on a M.Ed. at Lesley University in Boston. Myles worked for a year and a half as an investment consultant in Boston before returning home and finding his true niche in education. He is works in Special Education in the Newburyport school system.

Ashley J. Randall, sponsored by the Rotary Club of York. Originally from Vermont, Ashley received an associate’s degree from McIntosh College in Dover and has since taken courses from the American Bankers Association and at UNH. She has worked for 6 years at the Bank of Maine in York and is currently the assistant branch manager.  She has volunteered at the National Alliance on Mental Illness and the American Red Cross.

Maria Agustina Silveira-Galban, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Bethel. Maria was born in Argentina and spent 8 years in a convent (the Secular Institute of Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary). After leaving the convent, she received a BS in Computer Science from ORT Institute of Technology in Buenos Aires and now lives in Bethel. She works for the Sunday River Ski Area and is responsible for their web, ecommerce, social media and online presence. Spanish is her native language and she is fluent in English and speaks German and French.

Christoffer Daniel Freund (Alternate), sponsored by the Rotary Club of Portsmouth. Dan has a BA in Economics from the University of New Hampshire and is a producer for Kinney Hill Media Partners in Portsmouth. His innovative and interesting television productions can be seen on his video blog “http://shortstream.tv. Dan is the son of a German immigrant, has traveled to Europe, and speaks German.
